Goodbye to Brother Jim Thomas

Today we said goodbye to our dear friend Jim Thomas, who went home to be with Jesus last Thursday at the age of 94. Brother Jim came into our life by way of a chance meeting at Golden Corral about 12 years ago.

He was always smiling, never knew a stranger, and you could usually find a piece of jewelry or an old pocket watch in one of his coat pockets. Jim was as generous as he was kind, and he prayed for us every single day.

For the last several years of his life we spoke every day, either by phone or in person, and always prayed together. What a blessing he was to our family and to so many others. He was a beloved friend and part of our extended family, and he will be dearly missed.

This video was taken during our family Thanksgiving week in 2017. We had an impromptu concert and Brother Jim sang along on his favorite song, What A Day That Will Be.

"There is coming a day when no heartache shall come,
No more clouds in the sky, no more tears to dim the eye.

All is peace forevermore on that happy golden shore,

What a day, glorious day that will be.

What a day that will be, when my Jesus I shall see,
When I look upon His face, the One who saved me by His grace.

When He takes me by the hand, and leads me through the promised land,

What a day, glorious day that will be!

There'll be no sorrow there, no more burdens to bear.
No more sickness, no pain, no more parting over there.

And forever I will be with the One who died for me,

What a day, glorious day that will be."
